HopeKids is an organization that provides ongoing events, activities, and a powerful, unique support community for families who have a child with cancer or some other life-threatening medical condition, and The Rao Foundation is pleased to support them in this effort. They work tirelessly to surround these remarkable children and their families with the message that hope is a powerful medicine.
A HopeKids family recently shared their feedback on this incredible organization. “Your organization is truly one of a kind. You don’t just provide opportunities—you touch lives, lift burdens, and bring light into places of deep need. What you do reaches far beyond events and activities; it brings comfort, connection, and renewed strength to families like ours. We are forever grateful for you, and we love you deeply for the way you continue to walk alongside families in their journey.”
Each year in the United States, approximately 500,000 children cope with life-threatening medical conditions. These conditions affect the entire family with more than half of parents suffering from acute stress disorders and 80% of siblings having elevated levels of posttraumatic stress. In addition, illnesses contribute to over 62% of bankruptcy filings each year. More than $800 million is spent on medical research annually to find cures for cancer or other diseases, but these families need support now. Numerous studies show that hope can increase one’s overall ability to cope and that familial support in chronically ill children is vital. That’s why we believe that HopeKids is an organization worthy of our support, and we are happy to play a small role in furthering their mission.
