Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County officially opens the doors of its first permanent Club in Lewisville today — and The Rao Foundation could not be prouder to have served as the lead donor for this landmark project.
When we announced our one-million-dollar lead gift in April, we challenged the community to help open these doors by August 2026. Today, that goal becomes a reality. The grand opening celebration takes place at 9:00 AM on Friday, August 21 at 195 W. Corporate Drive, Lewisville, TX 75067, featuring facility tours and remarks from community leaders, including Lewisville ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lori Rapp on the critical need for out-of-school programs for today’s youth.
A Fire Station Transformed
The newly remodeled 10,000-square-foot facility is housed in a former fire station gifted by the City of Lewisville. Working with Jackson Shaw, Birch Construction, and Merriman Anderson Architects, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County has transformed the building into a welcoming, modern space designed for local youth and families — located just minutes from Lewisville High School, three elementary schools, a middle school, and surrounding neighborhoods.
Our matching challenge was answered many times over. Alongside The Rao Foundation’s lead gift, the project was made possible by a $3 million contribution from the Denton County Judge and Commissioners and $1.3 million from other generous donors.
Why This Matters
In Denton County, 1-in-17 children live in poverty, and nearly 29% of public-school students qualify for free lunch. The Lewisville Club will serve young people ages 6 to 18 year-round with academic support, healthy daily meals, mentorship, and enrichment in arts, sports, technology, and workforce readiness — along with safe and affordable childcare programs for area families.
The vision has only grown since we first got involved. Together with its existing mobile operations in Denton County, BGCGTC now projects the Lewisville Club will ultimately serve 10,000 youth annually.
